In the past few years alone, Gugenheim Law has obtained millions of dollars for the families of victims injured or killed through the negligence of nursing and rest homes. In 2003, Gugenheim Law obtained one of the largest verdicts in the history of Randolph County against a local nursing home. In 2005, Gugenheim Law obtained one of the largest settlements in the history of North Carolina (in a pressure ulcer case) on behalf of the family of a hospital and nursing home resident who developed severe pressure ulcers and died.

$525,000: Rest home acquired pressure ulcers; death after hospitalization to treat ulcers.

$500,000: Nursing home resident died of peritonitis due to improperly inserted feeding tube.

$500,000: Nursing home resident died after choking on food.

$400,000: Nursing home resident died after fall that resulted in subdural hematoma.

$350,000: Rest home resident died after staff failed to recognize symptoms of infection.

$300,000: Nursing home resident died after choking on vomit.

$230,000: Nursing home resident sustained unexplained leg fracture, developed leg ulcers and died.

$200,000: Hospital patient fell, fractured hip, and died.

$135,000: Nursing home patient fell in doctor’s office and broke hip.
